Beautiful Nauvoo

We went on quick trip to Nauvoo, Illinois with Grandma and Grandpa Andersen last weekend.  Despite some weather and illness issues – we enjoyed seeing the sites very much.  I love the atmosphere in Nauvoo – it is so peaceful and the scenery is beautiful.  I like to imagine myself there in the 1840’s.  Could I have been one of those pioneers?  No indoor plumbing, limited resources, no modern medicine…?  What would it have been like to be forced to leave most of your belongings and your home behind and head into the wilderness for a place unknown?  I wish I had as much courage and faith as these people!

On a wagon ride through the city – we did this right away when we got there.

We stayed at a really neat hotel – forgot to get a picture.  There was a cute store/deli next door.

David was trying to do his homework for his digital photography class – his assignment was to take a picture of a building – what building is more beautiful than the Nauvoo Temple?  I love standing in this spot in front of the temple and seeing the Mississippi river surrounding the area.  Amazing!

I love CVS and Walgreen’s!   I paid about $4 out-of-pocket for all of the items pictured..including 6 Right Guard deodorants, 2 Got 2 be styling products, 2 Pantene, Listerine Pocket Packs, Icy Hot, razor refills and lots of candy – which I do NOT need.  I am starting a pile of things to send to Kevin in Iraq and a pile for Operation Christmas Child.  If you would like help on how to shop at CVS and Walgreen’s – let me know.  It can be very complicated…but very rewarding!  I get tons of free stuff every week!

Spring 2011

We finally got some family pictures taken!  It was very windy out – I was worried they wouldn’t turn out very well – but we got some good pictures!

Happy 1st Birthday Amy!!

Amy started off her day by emptying all of the cupboards and drawers – like usual.  She had fun with Grandma and Grandpa while Mommy and Leah were at the dance recital.  She missed Daddy a lot while he was in Utah!  We were sorry he couldn’t be here to help us celebrate – but we were also glad he was able to be at Grandpa Searle’s funeral.  We had a birthday dinner for Amy and Grandma & Grandpa’s house.  Amy enjoyed eating more than anything!  Her cake was beautiful!
