True Dance Company Showcase 2011

Leah danced in her first True Dance Showcase today – she was awesome!  I can’t believe what a wonderful dancer she is becoming.  Today was a very long day that started at 6 am with hair and make-up.  Leah and I don’t always get along very well while doing make-up – but we seem to be getting better.  The hair-do for this year takes forever.  We have to take small groups of hair and twist.  Leah was very patient!  We had rehearsals all morning and a show at 3:00.  Amy was very good during the show and did lots of growling.  Eric fell asleep cuddled up next to Grandpa!  We are excited for our fist competition next week in Council Bluffs, IA.  It will be another LONG weekend of dance!

Growling

Up on all fours and growling.  I think we will start calling her cubby instead of chubby.

Pokey Turtle Visits the Andersens

Eric is the star of the week at preschool this week.  Part of the perks of being the star of the week is to bring home Pokey Turtle for the weekend and document his activities.  Unfortunately, it was not an exciting weekend for Pokey.   We did have a large amount of snow Saturday night and Pokey got to stop at Grandma and Grandpa’s house.

A New Year

My first goal for this year is to blog weekly the events that are happening in our lives.  Thank you to Jen G. for the inspiration!!  We might not always be exciting but we like to keep our long-distance family members up to date.  Amy grows and changes everyday and I want everyone to witness each precious milestone that she reaches.

My next goal for the year is to strengthen my family through many smaller goals.  We went through many life-altering changes last year: a new baby, two moves, built a new house, changed jobs, and started at new schools.  Now that all of that is behind us, I feel like we are finally coming up for air!  I am hoping that the new year will be a lot less stressful!  In the weeks to come, I will share our smaller goals and what we are doing to achieve them.

Winter go away please

I am so done with you!   We turned down the thermostat to save money (which didn’t work) and I have been frozen ever since.  The only time I thaw out is at night (David radiates large amounts of heat) and at the dance studio in “Studio B” where they are having trouble with the temperature.  It is always like a sauna!  I love it, but the girls that are dancing wilt and their faces turn red.  The kids are always dying to go out and play in the snow but it is SO cold out.
